DBCS’s Skills Development Program has been awarded funding from the Peter Gzowski Foundation for Literacy (PGFL) to enhance how we train and support our Skills Development Specialists.

This grant will allow us to update our training manual and develop a more hands-on, intensive training program—equipping our specialists to deliver even stronger Literacy and Basic Skills support for adults who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision.

The foundation honours the legacy of the late Peter Gzowski, beloved CBC “Morningside” host and passionate literacy advocate. We’re proud to carry his vision forward and grateful for this investment in building a more accessible and inclusive future.
